General

Wood is a precious resource that although can be regrown, takes years to grow and to replenish forests to meet the high demand. By recycling wood, less trees have to be felled, processed, and transported, which all have environmental impacts. Sending wood to landfill leads to the emission of greenhouse gases when it rots, which is what we rescue wood and never send anything we collect to landfill.
At Reseiclo we use the wood we collect to build bespoke products, sell timber fo DIY projects, as well as our off-cuts as kindling and lumpwood, and engrave/pyrograph personalised designs onto wooden plaques, frames, etc. We also use the wood as a way to bring people together to share skills, create jobs, and improve the local community. There's a lot you can do with what others call "waste"! Learn more about what we do.

Reclaimed timber is any wood that has been saved from landfill. We collect wood from construction sites and other industrial sites, sort and process it, and resell it for DIY or use it for the production of our bespoke products. Yes, we work with the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO), and also accept volunteers who apply personally. We have worked with the probation click here.

Waste wood collection service

We are unable to accept waste wood/wooden furniture delivered to us as we are not a Waste Transfer Station and do not have the licence for waste delivered to us. If you have waste wood that you would like to be collected, please contact us via email (info@reseiclo.co.uk) to arrange a collection - please provide photos where possible.
If you have wooden furniture that is in a good condition, please consider donating it to a local charity shop, the Tip Shop, or the Wastesavers Reuse Centre. We can sometimes accept donations of antique furniture in good condition - please enquire via email with photos.
If your wooden furniture is not in a re-sellable condition, we can collect it for a minimum price of £129.60, please contact us to discuss.

Yes, we do collect waste wood from homes as well as businesses. We charge for our collections per cubic yard of waste wood, with a minimum volume of 6 cubic yards. If you have less than this, we are still able to collect if you are happy to pay the minimum charge. Please contact us via email, attaching photos of the wood waste if possible (info@reseiclo.co.uk). Please note for domestic collections we take the payment by card over the phone after the collection team has determined the volume of waste.

While we do generate a second income from re-using and re-selling wood, it is a very labour intensive process and doesn't generate enough income to fully support our running costs - e.g. paying drivers, fuel, rent, utilities, tools, etc. Therefore, it isn't economically viable to collect waste wood for free. But, we are a social enterprise so any profits we make go into sustaining our projects.

Our waste wood collection service is up to 50% cheaper than a skip for the same volume of waste, while also being more environmentally friendly, as our lightweight vans use much less fuel than a skip lorry, thus reducing carbon and particulate emissions. We also hand-load our vans to maximise the capacity and efficiency of each collection to reduce the number of trips required.
Aside from the obvious financial benefits to your company, the wood we collect is used to support the local community and disadvantaged people, for example through projects like Reseiclo Training, a work-based day center for adults with learning disabilities where they along with our staff and volunteers use the collected wood to make bespoke products for our customers. We also work with local organisations and schools to supply eco-friendly products like planters, benches, tables, etc.

We collect from areas in Wales up to approximately 1 hour from our Newport-based workshop. To see a map of our collection area, click here.

We collect Monday-Friday during our opening hours. Once you are registered with us, we will usually be able to collect within 48 hours of notification (in most cirumstances), but you are welcome to book ahead for the following week, if we have availability.

All timber products (for examples click here) in any condition, except contaminated wood. Contaminants include but are not limited to: bitumen, heavy creosotes, abestos, heavy oil, glass, heavy metal hardware, excessive plastic or packaging materials.

No, we are unable to take any other waste that is not wood.

On a hard area that is easily accessible by a 3.5 ton vehicle. You may make a small 8 x 10 feet (3.1 x 2.4 m) compound to store the waste in - the same space allocation as you would a skip.

Yes, we provide waste transfer notes in line with the National Resources Wales guidelines.

Yes, we can supply recycling certificates. For more information, contact us.

No, you won’t be charged for the number of trips the van has to take; we only charge for the amount of material we are able to collect, no matter how many times we have to come back to finish the job. The only time you could be charged more is if the amount left is below our minimum van load, which is 6 cubic yards.
If you have a lot of waste that is a dense material it may look like the van is not very full, especially if you've seen the van carry less dense materials such as pallets, but this is because our collection team hand-loads the van in the most space-efficient way. The van has a legal weight limit, therefore even if it looks like there's more space on the van, we cannot load more on.
