I started as a volunteer at Reseiclo to help with the administration side of things, but quickly became interested in the woodworking and Training going on in the workshop next door. Before this, the only thing I'd ever built is IKEA furniture, and 2 months later, I've independently built a planter that's big enough for me to get into, and which is going to be placed in my local community. I am so proud of my new skills and can't wait to keep learning!
I retired a few years ago and decided that I'm not quite done contributing to my community. I took my carpentry skills to Reseiclo and found a wonderful place where I have been able to continue working at my own pace while sharing my craft with others and improving the local area.
I started volunteering at Reseiclo because I just wanted to try something new. Everyone I work with here is fantastic, but working with Trainees is particularly rewarding. I love seeing their confidence grow as they learn new skills and take on different tasks. It’s amazing to watch someone go from hesitating over a saw to building something with pride. It’s inspiring to be part of a team that values patience, inclusion, and personal growth. Volunteering here has been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to learn, give back, and be part of something truly meaningful.
